Hainan and ASEAN member countries share geographical proximity and close people-to-people ties. In recent years, as the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port accelerates, the tropical island has increasingly become a key hub for China–ASEAN economic and trade cooperation. ASEAN has remained Hainan's largest trading partner for several consecutive years, with growing trade volume, expanding cooperation fields, and deepening bilateral ties.
