According to the Haikou Maritime Safety Administration, the 2025 summer fishing moratorium in the South China Sea will officially end at noon on August 16th. Tens of thousands of fishing vessels from northern Hainan, western Guangdong, and southern Guangxi are converging through the busy Qiongzhou Strait en route to fishing grounds. To reduce the risk of collisions and to ensure safe ferry operations in the strait, Ro-Ro passenger ferries in the Qiongzhou Strait will be suspended from 7:00 p.m. on August 16th until 5:00 a.m. on August 17th.
